Program outline:
SSASO Total Sled Dog program highlights our members commitment to their dogs by providing a balanced, enriched, active and healthy life style that extends beyond training & racing.
Working with and challenging your dog on multiple levels helps to increase your bond & provides better communications
Our Total dog program helps you as a owner & teammate really get to know your dog and yourself, its an honest look at your strengths, weakness, capabilities and what you can achieve together.
SSASO's Total Sled Dog promotes :
Performance & Capability which also includes athleticism, intelligence, versatility, willingness to work with you and problem solving skill.
Structure, the soundness of the dog, does it move correctly and does it represent the standard and traits of its breed or breeds.
Health, As an owner have you done your due diligent in understating the health and genetics of your dog. knowing if you dog has any reinvent conditions that may effect it is important and in many case you can tweak your training program to help your dog.
We developed the total dog program to showcase owner and dogs that go above the standard showcasing a dog that is performance proven with sound body and mind.
Target Audience:
SSASO members, this program is designed around our core group of members where mushing & racing is the primary focus during Fall & Winter, but whom also know our dog/s are so much more. We want to showcase musher & dogs with multi-functional abilities and achievements.
The sled dog titles have a strong emphasis for points as we are a sled dog club, however this program is not about doing 1 thing well, It’s about learning about your dog, it's structure , and exploring their intelligence, temperament, drives, & versatility in several ways.
SSASO Total Dog should encourage folks to aim high and try to accomplish new things with their dog/s.
Our sled dog community is small and one of our goals is expanding our community and making it more successful for all our members and their dogs.
This title isn't designed to be a tool for breeding, it’s intended to be challenging for owners with their dogs, to work as a team and discover what success looks like together.

Disclaimer
This is a pilot program, which may see changes over the first few years.
Higher more difficult SSASO Total Sled Dog titles may be added in the future

In the event that an achievements points requirements are changed, this will not negatively impact individual dogs that have already been awarded.
BUT it can affect dogs and owners still working towards titles.
this is a title program not a breeding evaluation.
This is meant to augment other programs already in use, it’s not a title to give folks an excuse to breed
